SMT. SUSHILA SABAR, CDPO, BISAMCUTTACK AND SRI RAMA CHANDRA PATRA, ACCOUNTANT NABBED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE WHILE TAKING BRIBE RS 80,000/- FOR APPOINTMENT OF A DONGARIA KANDHA TRIBAL LADY AS ANGANWADI WORKER*.

Today i.e. on 23.06.2025, a short while ago, Smt. Sushila Sabar, CDPO, Bisamcuttack, Dist-Rayagada and Sri Rama Chandra Patra, Clerk-cum-Accountant have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.80,000/- as second and final instalment of overall demand of Rs 1,00,000/- for appointment of a Dongariya Kandha lady who was recently selected for the post of the Anganwadi Worker her GP area. The lady had applied for the post of Anganwadi Worker in her village about a month ago. On 20.06.2025, when the complt. enquired about the status of the appointment in the office of CDPO, Bisamcuttack, a demand of Rs 1 lakh bribe was made for issue of the appointment letter. On the same day, the Clerk-cum- Accountant of the office, Sri Rama Chandra Patra, took Rs. 20,000/- as first instalment on behalf of CDPO, Bisamcuttack via UPI transaction (Phonepe) from the complt. The complt. was further instructed to pay the rest amount of Rs. 80,000/- by 23.06.2025 to get the appointment letter. Faced with such huge bribe demand, the poor tribal lady reported the matter to vigilance authorities. Based on this, the Vigilance team nabbed both the accused persons namely Smt Sabar, CDPO and Sri Patra, Clerk-cum-Accountant at Kumbhara Dhamuni Chowk today while taking the bribe money of Rs.80,000/- from the complt.The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Smt Sabar and Sri Patra from DA angle.

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S. case No. 23 dtd. 22.06.2025 U/s 7 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused persons, namely Smt Sabar, CDPO, and Sri Patra, Clerk-cum-Accountant. Detailed report follows.
Accused Sri Rama Chandra Patra was earlier involved in another corruption case vide Koraput Vigilance P.S case No. 32 dtd. 13.08.2014 U/s 13(2)r/w13(1)(c) P.C Act /409/420/468/471/120-B IPC for misappropriation of Govt. funds by using forged documents while posted as Nazir in the office of Tahasildar, Rayagada. The case has been chargesheeted and is sub judice in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore.
